What's Quick Low-Cost Not To Mention Loads Of Fun? My Green Fold-Able Electric Powered Scooter
Buying an electric scooter had never crossed my mind. I used to be totally intent on buying a motor scooter.
It is the numerous kinds of two wheeled electric scooters out there that made me change my mind and buy one.
Residing in a place with no secure parking for a motor scooter was a problem. Coupled with that I had to get my motorbike license. Honestly, that basically was not a problem just a forgotten cost to be added to the purchasing of a motor scooter.
My folding electric scooter solved these problems. I will admit it took a lot of homework and time before I made the decision and even then I was still a little unsure, until the day my Super Turbo 800 Watt arrived.
I bought a neon green one, which is more outstanding than black, for a girls electric scooter, I think.
The nice thing is it fits into the elevator of the apartment block I live in.
In fact I park it in my apartment. It's not that big. I fold the steering down and it appears even smaller, so you hardly notice it.
Drivers license not needed. Yeah, you read right. No license needed to ride my scooter. Not all electric powered scooters fall into this category, however lots of them do, so you can understand the uniqueness of them. Simply check your local laws.
Should you think not needing a license is a good bonus, what will you think if I tell you - no auto insurance coverage required and no automobile licensing fees to be paid, either.
These certainly helped in my final decision.
Maybe your curiosity has gone up a notch or two. Would I be incorrect in guessing that your first question is "How fast do they go?"
That does vary on the model of scooter. Stand up ones like mine, 7 - 25 mph. That's about 12 - 40 km/h. My ST800 - sounds like a motorcycle doesn't it! - will do 22 - 25 mph with me on it. But I usually use the econo mode on my scooter so everyday cruising is 15 - 18 mph (24 - 29 km/h)
The bigger sit down models do go quicker and will travel further distances due to the advanced technology in there electric motors and batteries. Speeds of 35 - 50mph, with travel distances between 80 - 100 miles are common for these types.
I feel I should point out that there is something in between a stand up electric scooter and the sit down step through type.
Electric Bicycle. Having seen so many of those in my few travels they are probably the most versatile means of two wheeled electric transport.
They can be fitted with seats for kids, carriers and cycle panniers and they can tow small kid trailers. Very good for folks where in many instances a car is inconvenient.
Do you know what else is great about my scooter. I'm not confined to utilizing roads. Electric scooters and bikes are welcome in cycleways, cycle lanes and anywhere else a bicycle can legally go.
Clearly the larger motor scooter sized types need to follow the same rules as motor cyclists.
While I was doing my analysis I found all models of electric scooters in use all around the place...
Students
Police - yes they use Segways
Camper van and RV owners
Inside giant industrial factories
Scooter lovers - many of these people have 2-3 or more
And regular folks just like you and me deciding to commute a little differently.
